Welcome to the website of the Department of Electrical
and Computer Engineering at the American University of Beirut. The Department
is part of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, and is home to more
than 10% of the undergraduate student population at AUB. In June 2009, the
Department graduated around 115 engineers; the total number of alumni of the
Department now exceeds 2800.
Research in the Department is performed by faculty members and students in
diverse areas such as software, wireless communications, antennas, coding, signal
processing, hardware design and test, mobile computing, intelligent systems, bio-engineering, and power
systems. The Department recently introduced a Bachelor of Engineering (BE)
program, a Master of Engineering (ME) program, and a PhD program in Electrical
and Computer Engineering (ECE). The Department continues to offer a BE program
in Computer and Communications Engineering (CCE), and an undergraduate minor
in Biomedical Engineering.
