Student entry: competition dormitory façade proposal

Dialogue and censorship

Student life in the dormitory is about new experiences, experimentation and independence. The façade is read as the package that surrounds but never totally hides. It moving panels suggest seduction and controlled exposure by permitting the controlled censored dialogues between the students and the exterior.

The proposal is to transform the corner into a texture of asphalt and mosaic text and reintroduce the aluminum plates but this time to censor some of the words static on the background and to act as board for the students to communicate with textually. The boards can be placed to veil specific words, depending on the message that has been posted. These expression boards can only be accessed from the balconies of the students allowing them to be in control of what they project to the outside.  This type of communication allows a 2D media façade that can be interpreted in a several ways depending on what words you recognize, what words you think have censored by the boards and what the boards have posted.
