The course is the third in the History of Art and Architecture sequence required for students in Architecture and Graphic Design. It surveys post-medieval art, architecture and the city from the fourteenth to the eighteenth centuries including the Renaissance and Baroque in Europe and the three great empires of the East, the Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal Empires. The course is structured to balance Western and non-Western art and architecture, with emphasis on cultural encounters and contact between East and West
