The attitude of the studio represents an alternative to typical post-war planning & design. As a
parallel to guerilla fighting tactics: unexpected, non-traditional. The Studio may adopt
decentralized, low cost, individual or small group based tactics to architecture. Surgical
interventions, adaptive re-use, recycling, modular design & tool kits could be key techniques.
The studio will first develop a conceptual framework that will then be applied on two separate
locations. One of the locations will be rural – a small village in the south. The other, will be a
dense urban setting – such as Haret Hreik.
Lateral thinking approaches to housing and city planning will be sought. Housing – temporary and
permanent – will be developed in the rural setting, while planning will be developed vis-à-vis the
urban setting.
