Extracurricular Activities 2004-2005
Civil Engineering Society (CES)
The activities of the Civil Engineering Society (CES)
during 2004-05 consisted of: The reactivation of CES in
October 2004; the organization of elections in November
2004; the organization of the CEE talent show in December
2004; the co-organization of various lecture seminars,
and educational trips and movies; the showing of entertainment
movies; and the visiting of the late Prime Minister Rafic
Hariri Memorial in downtown Beirut in April 2005.
CEE Talent Show
The CEE Talent Show, organized by CES on December 21,
2004, was an opportunity for CEE students and guests from
AUB to share their talents, in a friendly atmosphere.
Students and faculty gathered to appreciate the talents
of their colleagues.
Civil Engineering Gala
The Civil Engineering Gala Dinner is an annual tradition
in the department when the CEE family, students, staff,
faculty, and friends, get together to celebrate the end
of the year. The event is mainly organized by 4th year
students and is an occasion to bid them farewell for graduation.
The event includes special activities and a dinner. The
Gala of 2005 took place in Riviera Hotel and Yacht Club,
Beirut, in June 2005.
Nejmeh Club Reception
Dr. Bilal Hamad invited the department for a “Kneffe”
breakfast reception on June 22, 2005, to celebrate the
victory of the Nejmeh Football Club of the Lebanese League
Cup 2004. Besides Dr. Hamad, the staunch supporters of
Nejmeh from the CEE department are Ms. Zakeya Deeb and
Mr. Khaled Hallak.
End of Year Department Reception
CEE faculty and staff were invited on June 30, 2005 to
an end-of-year reception to celebrate a year of hard work
done by the CEE family. Special recognitions for achievements
were noted during the reception.
