Field Trips 2005-2006
Field trips were organized by the CEE faculty with the
objective of exposing students to the real life experiences
in the practical civil engineering world. Visits to the
projects, offices, and plants (listed below) were also
aimed at enhancing students learning in specific courses.
Dar Al Handasah (Resources and Environment Department)

students) and Graduate Students
Date: December 20, 2006
Aim: to attend a presentation of dam projects
in Algeria and Angola.
BCL Ready Mix Plant
Accompanying Faculty: Dr. Bilal Hamad
Course/Class: CIVE 620 (Plain Concrete)/CE 2006
(4th year students) & grad students
Date: January 14, 2006
Aim: to expose students to the various processes
and steps involved in ready-mix plants.
Four Seasons Hotel Site

Course/Class: CIVE 421 (Concrete II)/CE 2007
(4th year students)
Date: May 6, 2006
Aim: to expose students to site construction,
supervision, and safety issues, phasing of project and
construction details. Particular emphasis was on reinforced
and prestressed concrete structural elements and systems,
were explained and discussed with the project manager
and the site engineers.
Container Terminal at the Port of Beirut
Accompanying Faculty: Dr. Isam Kaysi

Aim: to familiarize students with operations
of the Container Terminal.
