Awards 2004-2005
The following awards were presented to CEE faculty, staff, and students for
outstanding achievements and performance.
Teaching Excellence Award
Prof. Salah Sadek was one of the two faculty members at AUB who received the
Teaching Excellence Award for the year 2004-05. The other recipient was Prof.
Muhammad Ali Khalidi (Philosophy Department, Faculty of Arts of Sciences
– FAS)
ACI-Lebanon Outstanding Chapter
The American Concrete Institute (ACI) Lebanon Chapter has been named as an
“ACI Outstanding Chapter for 2004,” in recognition for attaining
the highest level of achievements in chapter activities. Only 12 ACI chapters
worldwide received the award in 2004. The chapter is presided over by Dr. Bilal
Hamad, of the CEE department.
CEE Department Service Excellence Award
Mr. Helmi El-Khatib received an appreciation award from the CEE department in
recognition of his lifelong and selfless dedication a to the CEE Labs. The
award was granted to him during the end-of-year reception for the CEE
department.
Dean’s Award for Creative Achievement
The objective of this award is to recognize and reward creativity among
students at FEA in their approach to academic work.
Recipients: Elie Daccache, Frederic Kassardjian, and Joe Mattar
The students were granted the award for their FYP Project: “Shared
Taxi" Traffic Operations Using GPS-Based Data Acquisition and Traffic
Microsimulation.
Best CEE Paper at 4th FEA Student Conference
The objective of this award is to recognize the best paper presented by CEE
undergraduate students at the 4th FEA Student Conference.
Recipients: Elie Daccache, Frederic Kassardjian, and Joe Mattar
Paper: Analysis of “Shared Taxi” Traffic Operations Using
GPS-Based Data Acquisition and Traffic Microsimulation.
Nomination to the Abdul Hadi Debs Endowment Award
The objective of this award is to recognize academic excellence and evidence of
significant research and publications by students. One award is given to a
student in FEA.
The CEE Department nominated the graduate student Rania Maroun (Major ETP, CEE
Department) to receive the award. The award for 2005 was granted to the
graduate student Nadim Diab (Major ME, ME Department).
CEE Talent Show Awards
Appreciation awards were granted to all participants in the CEE Talent Show in
December 2004.
An award was granted to Prof. Pierre Azoury for his lifetime contribution to
the advancement of the arts and music at FEA, and for his participation as
special guest at the Talent Show.
A special award was granted to Sako Holtian, CE graduate student, by the CEE
department in appreciation of his remarkable and selfless efforts to make the
talent show a great success.
