Endowed Chair Position in Construction Engineering
The
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the American University of
Beirut (AUB) invites candidates at the ranks of associate and full professor
with a well-established and internationally recognized research program in the
area of Construction Engineering to fill the position of an Endowed Chair in
Construction Engineering. The endowment for this Chair position comes from
Mohammed Abdulmohsin Al-Kharafi & Sons Company (MAK Group) which is a
private Kuwaiti based group with diverse interests and activities worldwide,
including a completely integrated Grade ‘A’ international contracting division.
Candidates
for this position should possess a Ph.D. degree in Civil/Construction
Engineering or related fields. Candidates with research interests and/or
professional experience in one or more of the following construction
engineering specializations are invited to apply:
Project
planning and scheduling, life cycle cost analysis and value engineering for
construction projects, construction processes and methods, building information
modeling and knowledge management, construction engineering/management, lean
and sustainable construction practices, green construction, infrastructure
health monitoring, and applications of innovative sensing approaches and
information technology to construction.
The
Chair holder is expected to have a broad academic background in developing
innovative research projects/programs, and in mobilizing collaborative research
efforts involving governmental and non-governmental institutions, and
international funding agencies. The candidate should have an accomplished and
continuous record of publications in prestigious outlets and a demonstrated
ability to attract external funding, as well as at least 5 years of
professional experience in the construction industry.
The
Chair holder is expected to work with the current junior faculty in growing and
strengthening the construction engineering program through pursuit of
interdisciplinary research initiatives, applying for ABET accreditation,
outreach to industry, among many others.
The
proposed starting date for the position is September 15, 2012. Salary is
commensurate with academic and professional experience. Applications must
