Al-Karafi Endowed Chair Position

The Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut is seeking highly-qualified candidates for a Chemical Engineering Chair Position supported by the Al-Kharafi Endowment. The Al-Kharafi Endowed Chair is being used to attract and fund senior faculty visitors for one to two years to spearhead efforts in establishing the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering and work with faculty team on personnel, and lab development needed to support new chemical engineering degree programs. The Chair Professor will also be expected to help develop a strong research program and to engage in teaching of undergraduate and graduate students in chemical engineering.

All candidates or nominees should have the education and experience required for a full professor level: a Ph.D., or equivalent degree, in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field. The candidates must be an internationally recognized researcher in his/her research topic in chemical engineering, with a proven track record in teaching, professional service, and lab development experience.

Preference will be given to candidates or nominees with proven track record with strong background in areas such as Materials, energy science and engineering. Applicants in the biomolecular and nanoscale systems, organic and molecular electronics, energy systems, chemical processing, optimization, reaction engineering, separation science, and bioprocessing, will also be considered.
