	Regional Collaboration Workshop on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Technology April 26-30, 2004 American University of Beirut Beirut, Lebanon Objectives Invited Guests and Stakeholders Workshop Program/Proceedings/Evaluation Workshop Photos Outcomes Objectives The workshop objective is to enhance sustainable energy development in the Middle East by strengthening the region’s educational capacity and collaboration among universities in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. Emphasis will be on promoting regional cooperation mechanisms in the areas of energy accessibility, renewable energy, energy conservation and efficiency, through generating an Action Plan for Regional Sustainable Energy. The Action Plan focus will be on strategies to encourage regional collaboration and means to influence the adoption of environmentally friendly policies. This plan of action will include identifying sources of funding that would allow the universities to move forward in providing educational, training and exchange programs on energy issues, advisory services, and contributions to national policy formation. The participants during the closed-sessions meeting of April 26, 2004 Invited Guests and Stakeholders Workshop Program/Proceedings/Evaluation Workshop Photos Outcomes Develop Regional Collaboration Action Plan in the area of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. Propose means for financing the activities of the universities in the area of sustainable energy development. Agree upon annual activities among the participating universities (i.e. organization of conferences and workshops, scholars and students exchange). Identify areas in need of support and financing, and submit joint proposals for funding.
