The AREEN Project Award of Excellence in Architecture and Graphic Design
       
 

 

 

AREEN PROJECTS AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN ARCHITECTURE
AREEN PROJECT, AREEN LTD. Architects & Engineers established the “Areen Projects Award of Excellence in Architecture” yearly award since 1988-1989.
This award encourages architecture students to give their best to their field, and become aware that competition is the best vehicle for progress.

PROCEDURE AND CRITERIA
1- Three prizes are to be given:
• First Prize: $2000
• Second Prize: $1500
• Third Prize: $1000

2- Eligibility
All final year architecture students who meet the criteria specified below.

3- Selection phases
Phase One: The final projects that have received the top 5 grades in the final project design class will qualify in the first phase.
Phase Two: Three of these projects will be ranked as first, second and third in accordance with the criteria outlined below.

4- Selection Criteria
The selected 3 projects should meet the following criteria:
• The final project should demonstrate respect for and service to the community at the local, municipal, national or regional level.
• The final project should demonstrate appropriate structural and/or practical concepts.
• The final project should demonstrate outstanding creativity and/or innovation.

5- Special Committee
The committee will be composed of the following:
• Chairperson of the Department of Architecture & Design
• Members:
- Professor of Architecture responsible for the Final Project Design Class
- Professor of Architecture in the Department of Architecture & Design
- Distinguished professional architect
- Professor of structural engineering from the Faculty of Engineering & Architecture
- A consulting engineer or contractor representing the Engineering Alumni Chapter

Selection of the winning projects will be made on the basis of a majority vote of the committee. In the event of a tie or deadlock, the committee chair will make the final decision.

AREEN PROJECT, AREEN LTD. Architects & Engineers established the “Areen Projects Award of Excellence in Graphic Design” yearly award since 2007-2008.
This award encourages graphic design students to give their best to their field, and become aware that competition is the best vehicle for progress.

All final year graphic design students who meet the criteria specified below.

• The final project should demonstrate critical thinking through appropriate design skills
• The final project should demonstrate outstanding creativity and/or innovation

5- Special Committee
The committee will be composed of the following:
• Chairperson of the Department of Architecture & Design
• Members:
- Professor of Graphic Design responsible for the Final Project Design Class
- Professor of Graphic Design in the Department of Architecture & Design
- Distinguished professional graphic designer from outside AUB
- An AUB Professor agreed upon by the department
- A visiting Professor or part-time graphic design instructor

Selection of the winning projects will be made on the basis of a majority vote of the committee. In the event of a tie or deadlock, the committee chair will make the final decision.
